When sagging eyelids, persistent puffiness, or pronounced under-eye bags make you look chronically tired or older than you feel, the eyes can lose the bright, expressive quality that defines your face. It is important to know that these signs of tired eyes are caused by aging and will not disappear naturally. At Ahn Point Center, we believe your eyes should reflect your energy and confidence. With expertly performed blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), you can successfully restore a refreshed, naturally youthful look that feels authentic and true to you, improving your entire facial aesthetic.

What Blepharoplasty Does

Blepharoplasty is a precise surgical procedure that gently removes excess skin, and often fat from the upper or lower eyelids. Over time, the supportive tissues around the eyes can loosen due to aging, gravity, and genetics, causing skin to droop (creating hooding or visual obstruction) and fat pads to bulge forward (creating persistent bags).

By meticulously refining the eyelid contour and tightening lax tissue, the eyes instantly appear smoother, lifted, and significantly more awake. Upper-lid incisions are meticulously hidden within the eye's natural crease and the precise amount of extra skin is removed by Dr. Ahn using calipers on a millimeter scale to mark the incisions before surgery. Very importantly, Dr. Ahn will not make your eyes look “done”, but instead will make them look “pretty” and natural, and will complement the natural almond shape of the eyes.

Dr. Ahn has refined his unique lower blepharoplasty technique over 20 years. Unlike other approaches, his technique requires only one discrete incision below the eyelashes to remove both extra skin and fat. No incision behind the eyelid is necessary and no muscle is removed, maintaining the strength of the lower eyelid.

Benefits You Can Expect

Blepharoplasty delivers a highly impactful, refreshed, and well-rested appearance by effectively smoothing puffiness and lifting heavy, sagging skin. The treatment not only brightens the eyes but also enhances the overall balance of your facial features. Furthermore, when excess upper-lid skin has begun to hang over the lash line, the procedure serves a vital functional purpose by improving your peripheral vision and relieving the heaviness that causes eye strain. The results of blepharoplasty are exceptionally long-lasting, giving you many years of brighter, more alert eyes with very little ongoing maintenance required.

What the Process Looks Like

Your experience begins with a thoughtful, in-depth consultation where Dr. Min Ahn personally evaluates your unique eyelid anatomy, discusses your concerns, and establishes clear, realistic aesthetic goals. Typically this is performed under twilight anesthesia though  the upper blepharoplasty can occasionally be completed withlocal anesthesia only.

After a brief initial recovery period, you should anticipate some manageable swelling and minimal to no bruising, with most patients seeing meaningful aesthetic improvement and feeling comfortable returning to social or professional settings within one to two weeks as the swelling significantly fades and the eyelids settle into a smoother, more youthful contour.
